M14 1

M14 is a globular cluster of stars about 100 light years across and about 30,000 light years away.  The brightest stars of M14 are of about visual magnitude 14.0.  The average magnitude of the 25 brightest member stars has been determined to be 15.44.  M14 contains the considerably large number of variable stars, many of them W Virginis stars (Population II Cepheids).
