Crater COPERNICUS

Copernicus is a relatively young crater lying near the edge of Mare Insularum.  It is 56 miles in diameter with steep walls extending to a height of 11,400 ft. (3760 meters).  Three peaks dominate the center of the crater and rise to a height of approximately 3,600 ft. (1200 meters).  Copernicus is easily observed with the aid of binoculars and is spectacular even in small telescopes.
